It has been a crazy few weeks with most of our time spent on optimizing the site and adding a few more features into the mix. We feel it is ready enough to have more than the 100 or so beta testers we have had so far bash away at it, so we will be opening it up to a less-private beta this week through some of the larger tech blogs.
We are changing server hosts as well in the next couple of days and upgrading to a much better setup. We want to make sure that everything works when folks come and take a look at the site. We are looking to go out with the base set of functionality and we are ready to go to town on updates to the site based on the feedback we get. We aim to turn around good ideas as fast as we can. At the end of the day, we have given the site a good shot in our own echo chamber and its time to get some additional input and critique.
We are also busy putting in more blogs into the system. We are looking forward to getting suggestions from users and blog owners! We are looking to have over 3,000 hand-picked blogs by next week going through the system. As it stands, during the week we are getting on average 9,000 new posts a day which is even at this early stage is providing a solid foundation and a really interesting mix of articles.
It’s coming down to crunch time on getting this little baby out there into the world at large, and just like a kids first day at school it is both daunting and exciting in equal measure.
Cheers,
Scott.
