Sadly honest

I agree with Zach, nothing to laugh about here, least of all the honesty of the message: I just recently moved to Denver, CO and captured this shot this afternoon downtown. I have no witty remarks for this photo. It is simply downright depressing. Best wishes.

Goodbye to our friend Chip Gerdes

Today we received news that Chip Gerdes, one of the patriots we don’t all know by name, but who works day in and day out to help our country, passed away. Legal Insurrection writers add their thoughts below. WAJ adds: I only spoke to him a handful of times when Legal Insurrection needed advice. His [...]

Euro is like Obamacare, interesting concept that can’t work because of people

Obamacare will not work. Just like the Euro did not work. Because of people. Via The Telegraph, German euro founder calls for ‘catastrophic’ currency to be broken up: Mr Lafontaine said he backed EMU but no longer believes it is sustainable. “Hopes that the creation of the euro would force rational economic behaviour on all [...]

One step away from #Gosnell

The author doesn’t have the guts to put his name on it. Not surprised. Disgusting: We’re having twins and I’m not happy about it, thought about aborting one twin. ow.ly/kL9cG ow.ly/kL9l7 — Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 6, 2013 As horrible as this might sound, we found ourselves wishing these twins away. We considered a reduction [...]

About those Syrian casualties from the Israeli bombing

The enormous mushroom cloud, the earth-shaking earthquake-like reverberations, the secondary explosions. We’re heard a lot of noise from Syria, but relatively little about casualties. The NY Times reports over 100 dead soldiers: The attack, which sent brightly lighted columns of smoke and ash high into the night sky above the Syrian capital, struck several critical [...]

There’s no such thing as a free immigration amnesty

Amnesty, and particularly citizenship, for people who broke the law to get here is bad policy because it rewards law breakers and advantages them over law abiders. It’s also very costly, as a study released by the Heritage Foundation demonstrates, The Fiscal Cost of Unlawful Immigrants and Amnesty to the U.S. Taxpayer: Executive Summary Unlawful [...]

Mideast Media Sampler – 05/06/2013 – Mixed Messaging on #Syria

1) The Israeli “message” Why is it that threats against Israel are regularly downplayed by the media? ‘Everywhere an #Iranian embassy exists, they plan terror on #Jews, #Israelis‘ ow.ly/kJZlH — Israel Hayom English (@IsraelHayomEng) May 6, 2013 Typical of this phenomenon is the headline Airstrikes Tied to Israel May Be Message to Iranians reported in [...]

Flashback — Ed Markey called Benghazi talking-point concerns “bogus”

On Benghazi Ed Markey had the chance to be loyal Democratic politician or truth-seeker, he chose politician

Politico home page becomes living self-parody of self-absorbed media

Politico hasn’t been this excited since Herman Cain. Looking at the tweets from attendees at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was nauseating enough. Obama’s speech was fine, he had some good one liners and some cheap shots, but it certainly wasn’t the funniest speech ever: I just witnessed our President deliver the funniest speech I [...]

Rain tax, Rain tax, go away …

Not in Maryland where it’s just starting Former senate candidate, Dan Bongino, discussed the “rain tax” on Fox and Friends. One of our blessings in Maryland is that the legislature is only in session for three months. It limits the amount of damage our legislators can do. One of the late efforts of our representatives [...]

SPLC doesn’t have the guts to put Bill Maher on its “Anti-Muslim” Hate Watch list

Mark Steyn observes in The Collapsing of the American Skull: One of the most ingenious and effective strategies of the Left on any number of topics is to frame the debate and co-opt the language so effectively that it becomes all but impossible even to discuss the subject honestly…. The Southern Poverty Law Center has [...]

“NO” is an extremely powerful choice option

Recently, I have been reflecting on the power of choice. As a citizen activist, I work to ensure that Americans make fully informed voting choices.  This attitude carries over to my selection of post topics. For example, when one disgraceful businesswoman attempts to persuade college students to become cheaply paid porn interns, I offer an [...]

Does anyone speak Canadian?

Because I need some help with these. From Linda in Tennessee: Professor, I was riding shotgun along I-65 North Saturday, when I saw a truck bumper full of stickers. I couldn’t read them, but experience has taught me to snap away and then try to read them after loading into the computer. You’ve had a [...]

Saturday Night Card Game (Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you happy see that blathering progressive guy?)

I knew I had seen that name before, I just couldn’t place it. Mark Karlin of Truth-Out, the John Corzine look-alike, who was blathering on about Bush, Slave Labor and Arizona He’s back, causing a ruckus two weeks ago, blathering about guns and penises. How do they think this stuff up? Many American White Men [...]

Obama and the 7%

The Rich get Richer When the Washington Post endorsed President Obama for his first term in office, part of the paper’s pitch was economic: OF COURSE, Mr. Obama offers a great deal more than being not a Republican. There are two sets of issues that matter most in judging these candidacies. The first has to [...]

New MTV series about sperm donor kids “redefining family”

Last year at liberal conference Netroots, Darcy Burner, the woman who introduced Elizabeth Warren, reminded the audience of the cultural power the left has at its fingertips. She said to the audience (start at 16:50): That is cultural change. Because television has given us — now everyone has a gay best friend whether they actually [...]

One year ago today: “I am very proud of my Native American heritage, thank you”

On April 27, 2012, The Boston Herald broke the story online that in the 1990s, soon after she joined Harvard Law School, Harvard touted Elizabeth Warren as a Native American. Warren told The Herald that day: “I am very proud of my Native American heritage, thank you” The Herald ran the story in the print [...]
