Gopher Bassmasters Fall Classic - Coon Lake - September 23, 2007

Its been a few years since I have fished Coon Lake, but I have had my share of success there. I figured we could run and gun until we got on a pattern and I knew the lake well enough to keep it going from there. I drew Ron Smith, he lives close to the lake, so we met at the landing. Congratulations to Brad Longerbone from MN, he was the highest scoring member of my Bassin' Blog group for ESPN Fantasy Fishing at the Smith Mtn Lake event. He also won my FLW group, but received a nice Berkley Prize Pack for his efforts, so someone else will win this group prize. Show More Summary

Mississippi River - Bassmasters Weekend Series Tournament #4 - Sept 9th, 2007 and some other stuff

I made the decision to run to Pool 5 and try to hit a home run in some pads. It was a tough call, because I had some other good fish and areas as well. I kind of talked myself into because I was kind of tired of consistent high finishes in money tournaments, but no big wins to show for it.

New Swim Jig Arsenal!

I just recently ordered and received a big batch of custom swim jigs from Super K. I don't throw a lot of different colors, so I just stocked up on the ones I normally throw. Hard to see from this picture, but I ordered all my jigs with custom red thread to tie the skirts. The two left colors (White Flash & Kizew Gill)...

MN Fall River Smallies

This past Saturday looked to be one of our last truly semi-warm days here in Minnesota. So my bass fishing pal, Josh Douglas, and I decided to chase some cool water bronzebacks. Josh & I got on the river a little before 10am, it will still plenty cool, probably 45 degree air temps and water temps hovered around 48-49 degrees. Show More Summary

MN Bass Federation Nation TOC - Leech Lake Day 2 - September 7, 2007

I could feel myself being getting little unnerved by having two boats there and having trolling motor issues two days in a row. Not to mention one of the boats there was my buddy's 1st partner and asked him if he could go there, my buddy politely told him he rather not, but he went there anyways and the other boats was his son. MN & WI Weekend Series moves back to Sunday!!!

ABA recently released an updated Minnesota & Wisconsin 2009 Schedule, they made on change on bodies of water, which I am guessing was due to permits. Also, they moved two tournaments from launching on the MN to WI side, also probably because of permit issues and costs. Show More Summary

Pool 2 Bass Fishing....

Last weekend was busy with birthday parties for my 1 yard old daughter, last night & tonight are all about lawn work and then finally tomorrow, my first real bass fishing trip in my boat. I will probably be up late getting some new line on a few reels, most of them have terribly old line right now, plus i have 3 new reels, so it...

MN Bass Federation Nation TOC - Leech Lake Day 1 - September 6, 2007

We headed out across the lake and not many of the early boats seem to go the direction we did. We arrived at the first area and I pitched my 1/2oz Black & Blue Jig into he cane grass and as I was letting the trolling motor down, one already had the jig and fish # 1 was in the boat, my 3rd pitch yielded fish #2 as well. Setting an ESPN Fantasy Fishing Line-up for Smith Mountain Lake

Happy Earth Day! Smith Mountain Lake may be one of the toughest to pick all year. Clear deep water lake, with lots of pressure and boat traffic on the weekends. All indications say that sight fishing and finesse will be the ticket, but its been a little cool lately, so maybe some angler can get on a wad of big females in a pre-spawn stage. The...

Leech Lake MNBF TOC Practice Sept 1-4, 2007

It was a windy first day, but we went right to the spot where I had caught 19lbs last year in a club tournament and my fellow club member Dave Ham was there and so were the bass. We spent the rest of the day checking other areas and looking for new stuff in Boy Bay. Sorry for the repost, but I added some pics!

Setting a FLW Fantasy Fishing Lineup for Lake Norman

Lake Norman is the largest man made lake in North Carolina, it definitely seems to be a more of a numbers lake with both Largemouth & Spotted Bass. Widely known as a dock lake, also has a fair amount of rock & wood. Unlike Table Rock, most bass are likely to come fairly shallow. Show More Summary

Lake Minnetonka - Bassmasters Weekend Series Tournament #5 - Sept 27-28th, 2008

Well the final two day event of the MN Bassmaster Weekend Series was finally upon us. I was able to get out on the lake one last time the Wednesday before for about 7 hours. Spent most of that time check some deeper rock areas and a few weedlines and...
