There's a cool Dark Souls Easter egg in the new Overwatch Eichenwalde map

There's a nifty nod to Dark Souls in the new Overwatch map Eichenwalde. Venture into the castle and into a room opposite the entrance, just off to the right, and you'll find a sword stabbed into a flaming mound. It is undoubtedly a reference to the Dark Souls series' iconic checkpoints. Show More Summary

The King of Fighters 14 review

Frame the rivalries between Japanese fighting game series as a pugilistic tournament and, for the past few years, Capcom's Street Fighter has held its title unchallenged. The field wasn't always so uncontested. Throughout the 1990s SNK's...Show More Summary

Chomping on corpses in single-player Divinity: Original Sin 2

In Divinity: Original Sin 2, elves eat corpses. Eat that Legolas! I suppose in Divinity 2 an elf literally would. But anyway. Eating corpses is a racial ability, what elves in Divinity 2 just happen to do, and when they gobble an arm or a head or a leg they learn things about who it came from - discover secrets. Tarsier Studios, originally named Team Tarsier, was founded fifteen years ago by a group of seven students in Sweden. Japan's Prime Minister just rocked up to the Olympics dressed as Mario

Back when Beijing was handing the Olympics over to London in 2008, we were treated to the spectacle of one-man omnishambles Boris Johnson sheepishly taking on the flag to mark the handover before London 2012. Japan, which is cueing up 2020's games in Tokyo, has done things a little differently - and with a little more style. Show More Summary

Digital Foundry: Hands-on with DriveClub VR

On the face of it, a racing game on PlayStation VR shouldn't stand a chance against a high-powered PC coupled with Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, but after playing DriveClub VR at Gamescom this week, our viewpoint has shifted. Simply put - this is the most immersive racing game we've played in VR to date. Show More Summary

Forget Go - Pokémon Snap is the series' greatest spin-off

Most of us fancy ourselves as virtual photographers these days. Not everyone is an Ansel Adams, but the tools for taking pictures have never been more accessible, nor as readily available to so many. In most games, it's merely a matter of pressing a button: Share, or F12, or F10 if you're using Fraps. Show More Summary

Surprise - reboot of multiplayer oddity Savage out now

Do you remember Savage: The Battle for Newerth, that ambitious online shooter that mashed up first/third-person action and real-time strategy, and threw in role-playing systems too? Two players would play as opposing RTS generals, looking down on the fantasy field, and all the other players would be their units. Show More Summary

Face-Off: No Man's Sky

It's pretty obvious by this point that No Man's Sky has several clear advantages on PC over its PS4 stablemate. In the best case, it gets an expected push from 30fps to 60fps (and beyond), a vastly widened field of view, plus a clearer 16x anisotropic filtering pass for textures - with a bit of fiddling. No Man's Sky and the problem of expectation

I'm writing this a couple of days after the release of No Man's Sky. The incandescent vapour of Internet opinion is coalescing around a cooling core of critical consensus. I imagine that by the time you read this there will have been magmatic eruptions of violent dissent, an orbit of backlash and counter-backlash. Show More Summary

This coffee mug is Prey's most exciting new feature

Arkane Studios has just released a couple of new minutes of gameplay footage from its upcoming Prey reboot. It all looks a bit BioShock with the ability to loot corpses and pause the action to select an armament from a weapon wheel. Or maybe it's the shiny art deco foyer that recalls Irrational's glossy utopias gone awry. Show More Summary
