Just a reminder that "all Americans" can't serve their country
I'd written about this before. It's a huge deal that the military's gay ban has been lifted. But folks should refrain from saying that now "all Americans" can serve openly. Trans Americans cannot. Very interesting. Low visibility has always been a problem for the trans community. People got accustomed to, and even started liking and supporting, gays because they got to know us, and see us. This kind of publicity is huge, and hugely important.
