Santorum was widely expected to win Kansas, as Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich chose not to campaign in the state. Santorum, on the other hand, spent the last few days campaigning in Kansas, which has 40 delegates on offer. Santorum is hoping this victory in Kansas will lead to victories in the Alabama and Mississippi on Tuesday, and allow him to further close the gap on frontrunner Mitt Romney.
