The anti-marriage-amendment campaign in North Carolina has apparently decided there is no way they can win a straight vote on whether gay marriage is a good idea. So they are now claiming the marriage amendment will strip heterosexuals of domestic-violence protection. They have made this claim repeatedly, for example in Virginia, which has a similarly worded amendment. The fact that 30 states have marriage amendments and in none of them are single people denied domestic-violence protection doesn’t seem to matter:
