MOURDOCK WINS: Tea Party Insurgency Takes Out Six-Term Senator Dick Lugar

NBC News has called it, Tea Party-backed insurgent Richard Mourdock has defeated six-term Republican Indiana Senator Richard Lugar in the Republican primary. With only about 20 percent of districts reporting, Mourdock was maintaining about 61 percent of the vote. Lugar was the ranking Republican member on several prestige committees, including the Foreign Relations Committee.
