Former Representative Gabrielle Giffords made a rare public appearance on Tuesday night to celebrate the election win of Ron Barber, her former aide. Giffords was severely wounded in a gun attack in 2011, and announced her resignation earlier this year. A special election was duly called, and Barber defeated Republican candidate Jesse Kelly, with Giffords rallying to his side and tweeting support throughout the race’s final days.
