Randgold seeks arbitration in Mali tax dispute

Randgold Resources is seeking international arbitration in a dispute over 23 billion CFA francs ($46.5 million) in taxes. ||| Bamako - Africa-focused gold miner Randgold Resources is seeking international arbitration in a dispute over 23 billion CFA francs ($46.5 million) in taxes which Mali says the company owes the West African state, a company executive told Reuters. Mahamadou Samaké, group regional manager for West Africa, said Randgold was contesting the bill as the taxes did not form part of the original mining agreement signed by the company.
