Oakland OKs $1.2 million settlement in fatal shooting by police

The council approved the payment Tuesday to settle legal action filed on behalf of the mother and three children of Demouria Hogg, 30. Through the car window they saw a pistol with an “extended magazine” on the passenger’s seat, police said. When that was unsuccessful, two officers broke the driver’s side window and attempted to subdue him with a Taser stun gun.
