Rick Bayless Sells Snack Line to the Company That Makes Slim Jims

ConAgra snaps up the chef’s chips and salsas Rick Bayless is cashing a big check from Big Food. The Chicago-based chef just sold Frontera Foods, his line of chips and salsas, to giant food conglomerate ConAgra. That means Bayless’s snack line is now under the same corporate umbrella as frozen Kid Cuisine meals, Chef Boyardee canned ravioli, and Slim Jims. The Chicago Tribune reports Bayless is staying on with the company as an advisor, and that the acquisition will enable Frontera to expand its product line and ramp up production.
