After power struggle, Dede Wilsey prevails at Fine Arts Museums

Embattled philanthropist Dede Wilsey has been waging an all-out campaign to stay on as head of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco — and from all indications, the museums’ trustees are ready to extend her reign as the city’s queen of culture, although with a new title and possibly less power. Both the 45-member private, nonprofit board and equally large public board that oversee the de Young and Legion of Honor museums are scheduled to vote in back-to-back special sessions Tuesday on bylaw amendments that — while allowing for some management changes — would keep Wilsey atop the museums’ leadership ranks.
