Disney: a Twitter Buy Could Have ‘Long Term’ Benefits, Says Barclays

Amidst all the speculation about Twitter (TWTR) getting bought by one of many possible suitors, Barclays’s Kanna Venkateshwar opines that there may be “long term” value to Walt Disney (DIS) if it were to acquire the company. Venkateshwar, who has an Underweight rating on Disney stock, notes that this would be one of the largest-ever acquisitions by Disney, if it were to come to pass, and that "it is not inconceivable that a media company, especially one exposed to sports like Disney, is interested in a deal given that Twitter is essentially a broadcast platform as a medium and Twitter activity around sports tends to be disproportionate to the volume of sports on TV.
