Uber's startup buy drives push into the long-haul trucking business

SAN FRANCISCO — Ride-hailing company Uber aims to bring the same tools it used to disrupt the taxi industry to the shipping business, saying this week that its plans to roll out a long-haul trucking fleet are rapidly taking shape. In a long interview with Reuters, Lior Ron — a former Googler who co-founded self-driving truck startup Otto — said Uber is getting ready to start "putting miles" on its trucking program.
