Alzheimer’s disease, the most well-known form of dementia, is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and the current number of diagnosed cases, 5.4 million, is projected to triple by mid-century.[1] Not only is this a staggering statistic, but it is sobering to consider the number of spouses and family members who, after the diagnosis, become caregivers.
