Prepaid-card company Green Dot to launch credit card

Prepaid-card company Green Dot announced it will introduce a secured credit card allowing users to charge up to $1,000 at a 19.99% interest rate for a $39 annual fee, according to the Wall Street Journal. Customers don’t need to have a bank account — they can make their security deposit and pay bills at any of Green Dot’s retail location — which could help bring un- or under-banked users that previously lacked access to credit into their portfolio.
