(128.6 x 100.3 cm) Rogers Fund, 1907 (07.76) Matilda Stoughton de Jaudenes (b. 1778), daughter of Boston’s Spanish consul John Stoughton, married Josef de Jaudenes y Nebot (07.75) at sixteen. This portrait, painted about the time of her 1794 marriage as a companion to her husband’s, depicts her in a richly ornamented costume typical of Hispanic noble dress of the day.
