Raytheon's SM-6 Missile Just Broke an Important Military Record

Dave Majumdar Security, The SM-6 is quickly becoming the jack of all trades when it comes to missile defense--or defense in general.  The Raytheon SM-6 Standard surface-to-air missile just set a new record for the longest-range over-the-horizon intercept in naval history. The new weapon—which also has a long-range anti-ship mode—is an integral component of the U.S. Navy’s plans to defend its carrier strike group as part of the  Naval Integrated Fire Control – Counter Air (NIFC-CA) battle network.
