Hillary Clinton could transform early education in the United States

A few years ago, I heard a saying that stuck with me: "If you want olives, you need to plant olive trees." It refers to the glacial pace at which the trees bear fruit. While apples and bananas take only a few years, olives can take a decade, sometimes longer. Such is the nature of early education policy. The only way to create a society that prospers in an age of industry and information is to invest in programs that won't bear fruit for decades to come.
