Nine tenants left homeless by Mission District fire

A fire of unknown origin damaged an apartment building and a convenience store in the Inner Mission on Saturday, leaving nine tenants homeless but causing no injuries. A one-story, four-car garage attached to the apartment building also suffered damage, as did the rear of a home next door. Maximo Lopez, a construction worker, Rigoberto Pol, a welder, and a female tenant were apparently the only people inside the building when the fire broke out.
