Today is the publication date of A Torch Kept Lit: Great Lives of the Twentieth Century, a collection of Bill Buckley-authored eulogies and obituaries deftly selected, corraled, and introduced by our friend, Fox News reporter James Rosen. Kudos to him for a job done so well. Christopher Buckley says “I do not exaggerate to propose that this may prove to be William F. Buckley’s finest book ever,” and for good reason — Bill had a special and unrivaled talent when it came to writing the adios and au revoir.
