Vanguard Founder Bogle Sees Little Long-Term Appeal In Smart Beta

Morningstar recently sat down with Vanguard founder Jack Bogle to talk about his take on the state of investing today, and while there’s plenty of enthusiasm for smart beta in many areas of the market, with new products launching from various firms, Bogle doesn’t see long-term value in the strategy. In the interview with Christine Benz, Bogle says that while he’s credited with creating the two oldest and largest strategic beta funds, the Vanguard Value Fund and Vanguard Growth Fund, he never meant for them to be used the way smart beta investors do.
