Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti this week, slamming the country’s southwest coast with winds of 145 mph and flooding. Since then, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia have each declared a state of emergency as the storm makes its way toward the United States. As communities brace themselves for the severe weather, one image ? captured on Tuesday morning by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s GOES-13 satellite ? seems to convey the dark spirit of Matthew.
