Colombia's ex-president Uribe slams 'weak' peace deal

Colombia's former president Alvaro Uribe, the leading opponent of a peace deal with the FARC rebels that voters rejected in a referendum, condemned the accord as "weak" Wednesday, as his successor scrambled to save it. "It's better to achieve peace for all Colombians than a weak accord for half the nation's citizens," he said after a high-stakes meeting with President Juan Manuel Santos, whom he accuses of being too soft on the leftist guerrillas with offers of lenient sentences and seats in Congress.
