The Atlantic Has Endorsed Three Candidates Ever: Abraham Lincoln, LBJ, and Now Hillary Clinton

The Atlantic magazine has only endorsed three candidates for president in its nearly 160-year history. In 1860, three years after its founding, it endorsed Abraham Lincoln’s Republican candidacy, largely as rebuke of slavery in America. It was more than a century later, in 1964, that the magazine raised its voice to endorse again, this time in favor of Democrat Lyndon B.
