Yahoo secretly screened email for U.S. intelligence, report says

SILICON VALLEY — Yahoo built software last year that searched all incoming Yahoo email for specific words or phrases at the behest of U.S. intelligence officials, Reuters reported Tuesday. But the Sunnyvale company says it didn’t break the law when it scanned hundreds of millions of incoming Yahoo Mail messages for the FBI or National Security Agency, apparently without a specific target in mind.
