Tasers are an increasingly common weapon for British police

BRITAIN’S police forces are rare among most of their European counterparts, and the world, for being lightly armed. Less than 5% of officers carry a gun, and those who do appear to be restrained when using them. In the year to March 2016, 14,753 firearms operations were undertaken by the police but a weapon was only fired in seven incidents, resulting in three fatalities.
