More than 10 percent of Americans have high concentrations of persistent pollutants

(Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona) A study led by researchers at the IMIM (Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute) and UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) has analyzed the number of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) detected at high concentrations in the population of the US and found relationships with socioeconomic factors. More than 10 percent of the US population has 10 or more POPs, all of them at a concentration above the 90th percentile.
