Twitter Plunges 19%: More Downside Possible, Say Monness, SunTrust

With Twitter (TWTR) falling hard after reports this morning Walt Disney (DIS) and Alphabet (GOOGL) are not interested in buying the company, as had been believed for the past two weeks, it’s time for analysts to assess the damage. James Cakmak with Monness Crespi Hardt, who rates Twitter a Neutral, writs that he’s been advocating for Disney or Microsoft (MSFT) as the most likely bidders since July of this year, and never thought Google made much sense, as "it looks apparent to us that social is not the direction Google will go under CEO Sundar Pichai’s leadership with machine learning at the core of the focus.
