Castle of Brecon Hotel

Sidling up to Norman castle ruins, this handsome Georgian pile has a decent restaurant and uplifting views of the bald peaks of the Brecon Beacons. Somewhat lacklustre rooms point to a hotel resting on its historic laurels, but with a little TLC it could shine.
