To figure out what every adult kitchen needs (besides the basics, like silverware, cups, and plates), Business Insider consulted America's Test Kitchen, which is home to 50 food experts and the popular cooking show of the same name. Bridget Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison, two culinary scientists at America's Test Kitchen and hosts of the TV show's 2017 season, told me the tools everyone needs in their kitchen by age 30.
