Pokémon GO retention: No, it’s not facing a player loyalty crisis

Contrary to what you might take away from recent headlines, Pokémon GO’s retention rate is not in trouble. In fact, it’s quite respectable; it’s competitive with those of other top-performing games. But Pokémon GO has a much larger audience than other games, meaning it’ll lose millions of players from week to week, even with a relatively high retention rate. As the game sheds some of the casual users caught up in the initial hype and finds a larger proportion of its audience comprised of active, loyal “trainers,” it wouldn’t be surprising for the weekly retention rate to level off, mostly ending its current gradual decline.
