Sparks’ Alana Beard hits buzzer-beating jumper to win Game 1 of the WNBA Finals

The known defensive specialist came up big on the other end. The Los Angeles Sparks’ Alana Beard hit a contested buzzer-beating long-two from the corner to give her team a 1-0 lead over the defending champion Minnesota Lynx on the road, winning 78-76. Despite having a two-time former MVP in Candace Parker and current MVP Nneka Ogwumike, coach Brian Agler had Chelsea Gray dribble out the clock and hit Beard for just her second basket of the game to win it.
