Three months after big layoffs, Cyanogen taps a former Facebook exec as its new CEO with a new strategy

Cyanogen, a well-funded startup creating an alternative version of Google's Android, has shaken up its executive team just a few months after laying off 20% of its workforce amid a strategy refocusing. Lior Tal, a former Facebook executive who joined Cyanogen as its Chief Operating Officer since June 2016, has been promoted to CEO. Former Cyanogen CEO and cofounder Kirt McMaster will be staying on as Executive Chairman of the Board.
