Hedge Funds Saw Strong Finish To Q3 With September Gains

September was a good month for hedge funds, which ended the third quarter on a strong note, helped by gains in technology, health care and energy bets, according to the latest data from HFR. The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index was up 0.6% for the month, its seventh straight month of positive performance, which brought third-quarter overall gains to 3%. Year to date, the index is up 4.
