Do Your Homework Before Buying A Short-Term Bond Fund: Fitch

A December rate hike may still be on the table, but even with an increase we’ll still be in a low-rate environment that has investors hunting for yield. Short-term bond funds are one potential candidate, but Fitch Ratings warns that a lack of standardization and various risks means investors have to do their homework. With increasing interest in short-term bond funds, plenty of new offerings have hit the market of late, with attractive characteristics like no liquidity fees or redemption gates, which will be a fact of life when money fund reform takes effect in a few days.
