Living With a Do-It-Yourself Artificial Pancreas

For years, Rian Draeger would go to sleep at night and wonder if he'd slumber throughout the evening with no interruptions. As an adult living with type 1 diabetes, Draeger has to constantly monitor the amount of glucose in his blood. During the day, a glucose sensor and insulin pump help keep Draeger stable. They provide data on whether or not he should give himself insulin.
