Alala founder talks active wear, profits and keeping it lean and mean

NEW YORK — Denise Lee started her active wear line Alala after training for her first triathlon back in 2012 and discovering that she wanted cooler, more contemporary apparel for herself, and finding nothing suitable in the market. The New York City-based company that she launched to fill that need in the spring 2014 season has since sold over 100,000 pieces in five seasons.
