The Lancet: Migrants screened for active tuberculosis pose negligible risk of spreading infection but can still get disease later

(The Lancet) Tuberculosis incidence in the UK has declined over the past four years, with fewer numbers of new migrants diagnosed with the disease. A new study, published in The Lancet finds that migrants arriving on visas to the UK from countries at high risk of TB and who were pre-screened for TB, pose a negligible risk of onwards infection, despite being at increased risk of developing TB themselves.
