Hearst Foundations award grants to 6 Bay Area nonprofits

The Hearst Foundations have awarded a total of $530,000 to six Bay Area nonprofits for projects in education, health care and social services. $100,000 to the San Mateo County Health Foundation to support the Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program, which helps patients understand the system of diagnosis and treatment and gain access to care. $100,000 to Pacific Vision Foundation in San Francisco for the Pediatric Ophthalmology Center in the foundation’s Eye Institute, which helps disadvantaged people prevent avoidable loss of vision.
