Wednesday night’s edition of Blackish, titled ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Black Man,’ sought to solidify an image in the mind of the viewers. Specifically, an image of the black man as the scariest creature of them all.
Wednesday night’s episode of ABC's Blackish aired on October the 14 th. Yet, Blackish is not the type of show to let a little thing like the pesky network programming schedule get in the way of taking a belated shot at Columbus Day.
The two week hiatus that ABC’s Blackish took from any discernible bias or controversy came to a sudden and violent end on Wednesday night, in an episode titled ‘Hope’.
Blackish celebrated Halloween on Wednesday, and they did so in style, with Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) dressing up as the scariest couple I have ever seen in my life.
Admittedly, I’m torn as to whether what happened on Wednesday night’s edition of Blackish constitutes actual bias? Or, just a really bizarre commentary on the self-perception of African-Americans in society?
