Facebook appoints Rachel Rubin Franklin, former producer on The Sims 4, as head of social VR

Former Electronic Arts VP Rachel Rubin Franklin will take point on Facebook's Social VR team, according to UploadVR. Franklin's job will be to realize the vision Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg demoed on-stage at last week's Oculus Connect event: a virtual environment built from the ground up for social engagement utilizing a blend of VR and AR systems. Users will step into the guise of avatars and play games, watch movies and TV shows, place phone calls using Facebook Messenger, share selfies to Facebook, and even duel with cartoon swords.
