Texas Judge Leaves The GOP After Officiating Same-Sex Marriage

Justice Terry Jennings has been on the Texas First Court of Appeals since 2000. Once a Republican, Jennings is now the first Democrat on the court. On Saturday, Jennings officiated at a same-sex wedding and then officially defected from the Republican party that he says 'left him'. “Today’s Republican Party has chosen a dark path I cannot take,” Jennings said at a Democratic fundraising dinner over the weekend, where he officially made the announcement that he was switching parties.
