When the Dream Becomes a Nightmare At 52, after 30 years at a computer tech firm, the last 20 as a high-level executive, Drew took an early retirement so he and his husband, Jackson, could enjoy a life of leisure in Palm Springs. Since they both enjoyed the art world, they made plans to open a small gallery, more as a hobby than an actual business. Their plan was to work when they felt like it, to stay at home when they felt like it, and to travel when they felt like it -- all with pricey cocktails served in stemware befitting their lifestyle.
