Five States to Vote on Legalizing and Taxing Marijuana

On November 8, voters in five states will decide whether to legalize and tax marijuana. If they all pass, 23 percent of Americans will live in a state with recreational marijuana sales, compared to about 5 percent today. Currently, recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado (2014), Washington (2014), Oregon (2015), the District of Columbia (2015), and Alaska (2016).
