If a couple of GOP Tennessee legislators get their way, every license plate in the state will soon say "In God We Trust."
Yesterday, Utah's Governor Gary R. Herbert signed into law H.B. 127, making license plates with the phrase "In God We Trust" a standard option, not subject to the $5 surcharge like other specialty plates.
The change was made by the bill's sponsor, State Rep. Bill Sanderson, after Attorney General Herbert Slatery III told legislators that mandating the phrase on license plates could be considered unconstitutional.
