Palme d’Or Competition Gets Rolling With First Three Contenders, But Security Headaches Nearly Upstage Them – Cannes

If you have heard that security in the wake of recent terrorist attacks in France (particularly last July’s horrific massacre in Nice) has been heightened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival you would not be wrong. Just trying to get through the gauntlet of guards and security personnel, plus metal detectors at the Grand Lumiere Theatre of the Palais was a real challenge at this morning’s first 8:30 AM press screening (for Amazon’s Wonderstruck).
