The President, the Senate, and the EEOC

There are five commissioner slots on the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. At present, only one is a Republican; three are Democrats, and there is one vacancy. In two days, on July 1, there will be another vacancy, because this Democrat’s term expires. What this means is that, if the two vacancies are filled quickly, we could have a 3–2 Republican majority; if they are not, we will have a 2–1 Democrat majority.
