Northwestern basketball waited 78 years for the breakthrough that finally came last season, an exhilarating run that led to the program’s first ever NCAA tournament appearance and a weight lifted from its shoulders. In the process, Northwestern shed its identity. This is no longer the power conference program synonymous with the most dubious streak in the sport.
